A-dec, continued to attract strong interest among visitors to the 2010 Australian Dental Exhibition (ADX) at Darling Harbour.

A-dec Australia Marketing Manager, Simon Taggart, said A-dec had broadened its range to cover the full gambit of dental needs from quality entry-level chairs to totally integrated surgery solutions.

In many ways this year’s ADX was like a litmus test for the dental-equipment industry, and according to Mr Taggart the mood for the dental sector remains upbeat despite the Global Financial Crisis.

“The GFC and Government investment allowance incentives have been and gone. The dental industry, particularly in Australia, has emerged relatively unscathed. We are in a strong position as an industry and this augers well for the future,” Mr Taggart said.

Mr Taggart says A-dec continues to pursue reliable creative solutions, which meet the needs of all dental practitioners.

“Dental equipment is evolving at a phenomenal rate as we see the uptake of the ‘digital age’ and its application in dentistry.

“A-dec has responded to this by building in greater electronic functionality in our delivery systems and partnering with the leading technology suppliers in this area such as Acteon.

“We have also added products and revised our pricing to take advantage of exchange rates and the development cycle of our delivery units.

“Last year we introduced our new A-dec 300 chair range and this has filled a niche for practitioners looking for a more affordable chair who do not want to compromise on quality. We have also been able to lower the price in 2010 and this makes this quality accessible to more dentists.

“Our established Cascade Radius chair is also being offered at a new affordable price point, offering a very robust and proven package which continues to sell well.

“However, the A-dec 500, which offers unlimited potential and seamless integration with the latest advances in digital technology, continues to be the flagship of our range and it’s hard to imagine a better chair.

“A-dec’s focus is to assist dentists by providing a complete solution for the continuity and efficiency of the practice. There is no ignoring the emergence of digital imaging, intraoral cameras and the latest technology such as the revolutionary Acteon SoproLIFE light-induced fluorescence evaluator, which offers the ultimate in non-invasive caries detection.”

A-dec recently entered a partnership with Acteon, providing A-dec dealers with exclusive access to the latest digital imaging solutions such as SoproLIFE along with Acteon’s PSPIX Phosphor Plate System, the Sopix 2 digital X-ray sensor and Sopro imaging software which can integrate and automate image processing among multiple surgeries at a low per-unit cost.

This complements A-dec’s existing partnership with leading European handpiece and sterilization equipment manufacturer, W&H – creator of the world’s first LED handpiece.

“But for many dentists, it is still the simple things such as ergonomics and the ability of A-dec equipment to best suit the way individual dentists work.

“A-dec is a clear leader in reliable and creative solutions such as purpose built cabinetry, articulating assistant’s work surfaces and wallmounted, rear-mounted and chair-mounted delivery systems.

“This enables dentists, hygienists, chair-side assistants and specialists to work in the most productive way, avoiding fatigue and risk of injury through unnecessary stretching and twisting,” Mr Taggart said.

“Patient comfort has not been ignored, and with the increasing trend to more complex procedures such as implants and oral surgery, our chairs offer the best in terms of access to the oral cavity for the operator and maximum comfort for the patient.

“Importantly for the dentist, A-dec has expanded its dealer network and we have some of the most experienced dealers and Territory Managers in the industry.

“I would encourage anyone looking to improve the efficiency of their practice and plan for the future to talk to one of our Territory Managers or local A-dec dealer and tell them what they are looking for, how they envision themselves working and let us guide them to the most workable solution for them.

“Good planning at an early stage results in the most optimum outcomes and also reduce costs through the selection of the most productive equipment and fit-outs, including A-dec’s Preference room dividers and double sided X-ray cabinets which greatly reduce equipment overheads in a new or refurbished practice,” Mr Taggart said.
