Southern Cross Dental Laboratories (SCDL) have released dates and details of the revamped AAA/Invisalign accreditation courses for 2010.
The new course has been trialled in 2009 and now includes a clinical component where dentists must bring a suitable patient to day 2 of the course to commence treatment. Dentists rapidly gain vast clinical experience by examining and treating many patients during their accreditation course
"Based on more than a million patients treated to date, we know that a dentists proficiency levels with Invisalign are a reflection of his or her Invisalign case experience," said Dr Grant Duncan, orthodontist and Head of the AAA/SCDL treatment planning team.
"We are committed to helping our dentists gain the clinical knowledge and confidence they need to achieve high quality treatment outcomes. In addition, by ensuring a baseline of experience, SCDL can also better support the needs of AAA/Invisalign providers by tailoring continuing education programs, treatment planning by their team of experts and services to help our dentists build and maintain a working knowledge of Invisalign."
A mentoring program has now been added to provide even more education and support to ensure general dentists quickly reach maximum proficiency. Dentists bring their patients to specially selected AAA/Invisalign experts around Australia and work side by side until the new Invisalign practitioner feels completely comfortable with the procedures and protocols.
Dr David Penn, who wrote the new AAA/Invisalign accreditation course for general dentists said, "This mentoring program removes any possible barriers to entry for newly accredited AAA/Invisalign users. With our team of experts designing the treatment plans and our mentoring program available to ensure ideal clinical protocols and support, the general dentists will be extremely proficient within 12 months of accreditation."
"We expect that this program will be highly sought after in 2010 and with limitations to the number of participants (due to the hands on nature of the courses) dentists need to express an interest well in advance to avoid disappointment."
