When Heine brought their ground-breaking S-Framed HR Binocular Loupe with LED illumination to market 2 years ago, they were casting new light in dentistry and surgical precision, and the industry responded with enthusiasm.

HeineThe HR Loupe and LED combination remains one of the most successful improvements to the core surgical tool kit in years, with its benefits being recognised by dentists around Australia and the world. Its success in the market rang bells with its designers and the LED Loupelight has been the inspiration for a niche R & D project at Heine HQ ever since.

The quest was simple: take everything the Loupelight offered in vivid white light illumination, longevity, shadowfree view and gaze-specific brightness... and improve it. “Heine is extremely sensitive to what the market wants,” says Australian product manager, Aaron Harvey. “The response we had from the Loupelight showed us that dentists wanted a better, more versatile light-source, so we gave them that and spent two years creating a superb one. I believe what we have come up with ticks all the boxes.”

The brand new Heine LED Loupelight offers a spectacular 40,000 lux output of shadow-free whitelight with extended battery life of 17 hours continual use at maximum brightness and a life-expectancy of 50,000 hours for the LED – more than double their predecessors. Its advanced LED technology provides white homogenous (consistent brightness) light across an 81mm illumination field at 420mm, 95mm at 500mm working distance and superb coaxial vision (shadow-free) for deep unobstructed illumination of cavities – all ideal for ENT, surgical and dental applications.

The LED Loupelight is portable, waterproof, durable, cool-to-touch, weighs in at 24gms, is fully adjustable to all angles, can be dimmed for comfort, has an optional yellow filter (for composite work) and features a new mount allowing the loupes to be rotated up and out of the way whilst leaving the light positioned on the working field.

It’s reason for excitement at Heine where they have not only topped their best efforts in illumination technology and design, but set a new paradigm. Ask Harvey to describe the difference between the two and he says, “It’s like comparing chalk and cheese. It is incredible to think such an intense light can come out of such a small unit.

When you use the combination of the loupes and light, everything becomes that much clearer and crisper and as a result, you see things that you normally wouldn’t even notice.” The new Loupelight is almost 4 times brighter than their own current market leader, and the associated advantages of longer working life (around 2 full operating days), lightness and intelligent design set a new benchmark in vision technology this year. “This is like a giant leap in design and performance,” he says. “I think we can say we’ve set the standard now for quite a number of years.”
